Anyone (George perhaps?) know if we're likely to see any improvements to LG Netcast soon? I was persuaded by a salesman at Richer Sounds to buy an LG 42LD790 instead of the Sony KDL40EX503 (£580) which I'd gone in for. This was good for LG, and I'm happy with the picture quality of the TV, but have found Netcast in its current form to be very disappointing, especially compared to what Sony offers. The salesman was confident that if it didn't have BBC iPlayer now that it soon would, but browsing the web I'm not so sure. Hi, Does anyone have any further concrete updates on this. We have just quoted 10 LG screens into a job we are doing and the client is making noises about using Samsung as it has iPlayer. I don't mind the Samsung screen but it has no RS232 (some of the new ones have no exlink) and the only way of getting an IR bug onto it in a hidden way is to take the back off! Personally I really want to use a screen with RS232 as we need the most robust control possible. If iPlayer is absolutely happening then that's fine but even the distributors are not 100% sure. Click to expand.Oh please don't let that be true LG! I've just forked out a pile of money for a once-a-decade TV purchase (and on a newly launched model) on the premise that iPlayer would be available on it soon and so will be very disappointed if I get stuck with current, very weak NetCast (frankly I don't think they should even promote it as a feature, let alone call it internet TV). Sony launched their EX503 without iPlayer but included it in an update so I can't see why LG can't treat their customers the same. This seems to be the way things work these days with new technology products - hardware first, firmware & fixes a little later.
